ARC budgets
Do not use or submit the University Budget Form. The format for the grant budget is specified in ARC Instructions for Applicants. You may wish to complete your budget in a spreadsheet prior to entering it into your application in the ARC Research Management System (RMS).When preparing ARC Discovery-Projects and Linkage-Projects applications, you are required to estimate the full cost of the project. ARC grants are not taxable so do NOT add GST to the total amount sought.
Since the introduction of the RMS in March 2009, there is no longer a requirement to include indirect costs in project budgets, just direct costs.
Direct Costs
- Cash contribution from the ARC.
- Cash and in-kind contributions that the University will provide to the project, including the value of the time to be spent on the project by University-funded personnel.
- Details of any funding that is being provided for the project by other organisations.
Salaries
Use the ARC Salary and Stipend Scales. These scales take into account anticipated Enterprise Bargaining related salary increases and appropriate on-costs. Include increments in the amounts requested if the proposed project duration is more than one year.
- Read ARC Teaching Relief (UoM Fact Sheet)
Non-salaries
Maintenance, Travel and Other costs may be estimated and do not require quotes. The estimate may be based on your previous experience in conducting research. When showing Equipment costs, the ARC asks that you: "Base the cost of equipment and installation on the latest prices obtained from the supplier at the time of application."
