International funding opportunities

Europe | N. America | NE Asia/SE Asia/S Asia | Other (incl. Middle East, S. America and Africa) | Successful applications

When applying for grant funding to an overseas-based sponsor, the general principle is that the internal due date for applications to be submitted to the Melbourne Research Office is 2 weeks prior to the sponsor's deadline. Ensure that you are eligible to apply as many overseas sponsors have very strict eligibility requirements. For guidance on applying for grants, including instructions on submitting applications on Themis Research, please go to our Applying for external research grants page. If you require any assistance, please contact Alice Boland.

North East Asia/South-East Asia/Southern Asia

Funding from these regions is generally tied to projects conducted under the auspices of government collaborative initiatives. The DIISR ISL scheme and the DFAT ACIAR program are prime examples. However, some examples of international funding bodies in this region include:

Government
Public, Private & Non-profit

Other (incl. Middle East, South America and Africa)

Again, funding from these regions is generally tied to projects conducted under the auspices of government collaborative initiatives. See the list of Grantmaking Foundations and Corporate Giving Programs for sponsoring bodies with an interest in a particular region.

Successful applications

The Research Office is developing a database that provides detailed information on the University's participation in internationally funded research. Once this is finalised it will be accessed through this site. If you would like copies of successful grant applications to an international funding body that you are applying to, please contact Alice Boland.
