Melbourne ResearchResearch Grants and Contracts

Amending the contract

During the life cycle of a research agreement adjustments may be necessary to your terms and conditions. This may involve varying the agreed budget; adding milestones to the project; adding a new project under the same agreement; extending the expiry date; change deliverables dates etc.

Variations must be agreed before the contract has expired. However, if your contract has expired but you have a communication from the sponsor that pre-dates the expiry date and proposes an amendment, the variation can still be achieved. Contact Ana Brown (8344 2044) in this instance.

How to submit your amendment request

Complete the Amendment Checklist by completing the fields relevant to the contract amendments.

If amending a budget, complete the Budget Form for Research, including only the amount being added to the budget. Disregard the previous amount negotiated with the sponsor on the original agreement.

Advise the Research Contracts Group if you require a Variation Agreement to be drafted. If an external party has provided you with a draft variation, send the draft to us (in electronic format if possible) alongside any related contract documentation.
