Submitting a new application
New animal ethics applications are created online via Themis using the Animal Ethics workbench within the Research Self Service facility. The application form allows users to draft, sign-off and submit applications electronically. For queries about Themis access and general usability please contact the Themis Helpdesk Service Centre.
Although the application is submitted electronically, the committee still requires 15 paper copies to be delivered to the Melbourne Research by the deadline.

Tracking your application
Email notifications are generated from Themis informing applicants of the status of their application and actions required, such as any post-Committee revisions required and instructions on resubmission. The scale and nature of revisions will determine whether a revised amendment will be reviewed ???out of session??? by the AEC Chair, or by the full Committee at its next sitting.
You can track changes to the status of your application within Themis by viewing "current applications" in your Animal Ethics Workbench. Select the record you are interested in and use the relevant tools within "application management" (left menu) to view the application history.
Do not commence your project activities until you have been notified of approval. You will be informed of this by email, followed shortly after by a formal letter.
